Split PDF & merge PDF

What is split PDF and how does it work?
Splitting a PDF means dividing one PDF file into multiple smaller PDFs. On our split PDF tool you upload a single PDF and specify page ranges (e.g. pages 1–3, 5–10). Each range becomes a separate PDF file. You can extract one section, split every page into its own file, or create several custom ranges. Results are delivered as individual PDFs or as a ZIP if you have multiple ranges. Works in your browser.
What is merge PDF and how do I combine PDFs?
Merging PDFs means combining two or more PDF files into one document. You upload your PDFs in the order you want them to appear, and our merge PDF tool produces a single PDF with all pages in that order. Useful for combining reports, merging scanned documents, or assembling a single file from multiple sources. You can merge up to 5 PDFs at once, with a total size limit of 50 MB.
What file size can I use?
Single files and the total size of all merged files must be under 50 MB. If your file is larger, try compressing it first or split it into smaller parts.
How many files can I merge at once?
You can merge up to 5 PDFs in one go. The order you upload them is the order they will appear in the final PDF. Total size of all files combined must stay under 50 MB.
How many page ranges can I specify when splitting?
You can specify up to 20 page ranges when splitting a PDF. For example: "From 1 to 3" and "From 5 to 10" gives you two PDFs. Each range becomes a separate PDF; if you have multiple ranges, you may receive a ZIP file containing one PDF per range.
Can I extract specific pages from a PDF?
Yes. Use the split PDF tool and add a range with the same start and end page (e.g. From 7 to 7) to extract a single page. To extract several non-consecutive pages, add one range per page or use ranges that cover the pages you need.
What format are the outputs?
All outputs are standard PDF files. When you split with multiple ranges, you may receive a ZIP file containing one PDF per range so you can download them together. The merged PDF is a single PDF file.

Usage & limits

How long does split or merge take?
Most jobs finish within a few seconds. Larger files or many pages may take a bit longer. The result page updates automatically when your file is ready to download.
How are my files handled? Is my data secure?
Your files are used only to perform the split or merge you requested. We do not retain them after the job completes. You upload, we process, you download — no ongoing storage of your documents.
Is it really free?
Yes. Splitting and merging PDFs are free to use within the limits above. Open the split PDF or merge PDF page and start — no account required.

General

Can I use this on my phone or tablet?
Yes. The site works in your phone or tablet browser. Upload from your device and download the result the same way. No app to install.
Do I need to install any software?
No. Everything runs in your web browser. There is no software to download or install — just go to the split PDF or merge PDF page and use the tool.
What browsers are supported?
Any modern browser works: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and others. Make sure JavaScript is enabled so the upload and download flow works correctly.
Can I use password-protected or encrypted PDFs?
The tool works with standard, unencrypted PDFs. If your PDF is password-protected, you’ll need to unlock it first using a PDF unlock tool before splitting or merging.
Why did my split or merge fail?
Common causes: file over 50 MB, more than 5 files when merging, or a corrupted or non-standard PDF. Try a smaller file or a different PDF. If the problem continues, use our contact form and we’ll help.
